Background

Joe Conniff is a multifaceted video editor and producer with a background in storytelling.

He began his career in the film industry working on feature-length productions for Lionsgate, Walt Disney Pictures, and Revolver Films. This experience gave him knowledge about all stages of filmmaking — from scouting locations to working across set departments to creating visual effects during post-production. He earned credits for titles such as Saving Mr. Banks, The Next Three Days, and other major productions during this period.

This exposure made him realize the critical role of film in shaping history, culture, and politics — and the importance of passing on that knowledge to the next generation. It’s why he accepted a role teaching film to schoolchildren as part of an enrichment program for the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he designed a curriculum reflecting the full range of filmmaking. He taught students how to write a script, act, direct, produce, set up lighting and sound, and operate cameras — with each class producing a short film as their final project. Most importantly, he facilitated class discussions about the importance of film as a medium for expressing ideas and contributing to culture.
